Tugboats, the semi's of the ocean. They pass Powell River pulling logbooms, construction barges, scows of hogfuel and chips for the local paper mill, train barges, barges loaded with
semi-trailers and chemical tankers and more. And I take their pictures as they pass.

Here you will find some of the photos I have taken of those tugboats as they pull their tows up and down Malaspina Strait and the surrounding waters. Big ones and little ones, good looking tugs and some not so.

Sea Imp X

Sea Imp X - 2017-10-12

Another Catherwood Towing boat, the Sea Imp X was built by Alberni Engineering and Shipyards of Port Alberni. Not seen here often, she was doing relief
on the City Transfer drop-trailer barge run, the regular boat having mechanical issues. In the bottom shot she was passing a Seaspan barge heading north
to the Catalyst Mill. This tug suffered "massive damage" when it sank in the North Arm of the Fraser River on September 22, 2015 - she caught a
deadhead in one of her 2 props, and the barge in tow pulled her sideways and under. All hands were safe.
